Michelle K. Carimi

Michelle earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Michelle was named the Susan McCrary Volunteer of the Year, appeared on the Dean’s List multiple semesters, and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. She earned CALI (American Jurisprudence) Awards in both Juvenile Justice and Real Estate Transactions II, and a certification in Children’s Law. She also served as a peer mentor and on the Executive Board of Women in Law as the Networking Coordinator and Vice President.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History with honors from the University of South Carolina. As an undergraduate, she served on the Capstone Scholar Student Advisory Board and co-taught a freshman course as a University 101 Peer Leader. She received several merit-based scholarships, and participated in a study abroad program through the International Studies Institute at Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, Italy. After graduation, she joined a Columbia real estate and business law firm as a paralegal. She went on to serve as a law clerk throughout law school for the same firm, and later as an attorney, gaining extensive experience in commercial real estate and business law. Prior to founding Carimi Law Firm, Michelle was a member in that firm's private practice.

A daughter of a Marine Corps veteran, Michelle was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. When not practicing law, she enjoys volunteering, traveling, and spending quality time with her family, including her husband, Tony, their young daughter, and their German Shepherd. In the legal community, she is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She has volunteered with the First Responder’s Wills and Estate Planning Clinic, the South Carolina Bar’s Ask-A-Lawyer television phone bank and web chat, and the University of South Carolina’s Cocky’s Reading Express. She has also served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), representing the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.
